Each selected developer will receive $100,000. Teams can get up to $300,000 over two years. Blue Ocean will not ask for full equity. Instead, it offers hybrid equity and revenue-sharing agreements. This keeps control in the hands of developers while offering fair returns to investors.

The first challenge begins on May 1, 2025. Blue Ocean is organizing it in partnership with Global Game Jam. Applications for funding will open at the same time. The submission window lasts through May. Voting will take place in June.
Rather than submitting complete games, developers can submit a trailer. This makes the process less intimidating and more accessible. Trailers will showcase gameplay concepts. Judges and viewers will then vote on their favorites.
Fast-Track for Challenge Winners
Winners of the Rising Tide challenge will receive a “fast track pass.” These winners skip the usual waiting lines. They get an expedited interview process for funding.
As long as they submit a full application, they’re guaranteed a meeting. Successful teams may receive up to $300,000 over two years.
