Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on 27th March 2011 at the village Motipur, situated in Tajpur block, district Samastipur in Bihar. Vaibhav has Indian Mithila lineage. Vaibhav entered the game of cricket at a mere four years of age. His own father was his initial coach. Vaibhav then got coached at a Samastipur-based cricket academy at the age of nine. His path diverged early and reached the destination within no time.
Ascending the Hierarchy
At the age of 12, Vaibhav Suryavanshi competed for Bihar’s under-19 team in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. He played against older boys and impressed all with his talent. He went on to make his first-class cricket debut in January 2024. He played against Mumbai at the age of 12 years and 284 days. He then became the second youngest to represent Bihar in the Ranji Trophy. He became overall the fourth youngest in Indian first-class cricket.
T20 and List A Debuts
He made his T20 career debut in November 2024. He came to the pitch against Rajasthan to play for Bihar at an age of mere 13 years and 241 days. It made him the youngest Indian T20 debut player to date. A month later, he debuted in List A. He played for India in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Madhya Pradesh. At the age of 13 years and 269 days, he broke another record. He became the youngest Indian to make a List A cricket appearance.
Success at the Under-19 Level
Vaibhav played for India B under-19 in 2023. In six games, he amassed 177 runs, including two half-centuries. He made his India under-19 debut against Australia in September 2024. He scored an under-19 Test century in 58 balls. It was the fastest Indian century at this level. He was run out on 104 but had already set the second-fastest under-19 century record in the world.

The IPL record of the Rajasthan Royals
In November 2024, the Rajasthan Royals selected Vaibhav Suryavanshi for ₹1.1 crore. His age was only thirteen. This set the record for the youngest player to sign an IPL contract.
On April 19, 2025, Vaibhav made his IPL debut against the Lucknow Super Giants.
At 14 years and 23 days, he became the youngest player in the IPL. He even received a six off the first ball and continued to hit 34 runs in 20 balls.
Record-Breaking Century
Within nine days, on April 28, 2025, Vaibhav did it again. Against the Gujarat Titans, he scored a hundred runs. He became the youngest century in the IPL at the age of 14 years and 32 days.
